The New Year

Year 2006 passed by so fast, don't you think? Perhaps it's the whole graduation thing. I am trying hard to catch my breath. Before I know it, I'll be a workaholic.

Sigh. If only there's a kind of work which is stress-free. If it wasn't about money, I would go into teaching, be an environmentalist, or even run a delicious cafe. Just to do things that I like to do.

If only it wasn't about imminent $$$ pinched onto my survival instincts.

Year 2006 had its ups and downs for me. My New Year resolution is to become more generous at heart, wiser at mind, and fillial as a daughter. With age comes responsibility. Even though I have made mistakes which were painful, they have opened up my eyes to a new world.

Cheers! To the new year ahead. May our courage keep us standing strong in chasing a world of dreams. May this year bring good health to everyone, peace to every country and joy to every child who deserves a happy start in this world full of hidden menace.

This was the Christmas tree that we set up at Liana's place.

We also took a picture of our design project, which was filed nicely in a binder. I think we were very proud of our hard work. No, maybe the joy was due to the completion of the project that marked the end of stressful late nights at the computer lab.

My first week in KL was very eventful. I went back to Malacca to visit my relatives. Played with my two very cute and mischievious cousins. Ate lots of good food. Got my hair highlighted with a two-tone copper brown colour. I was there for about three days, and it did rain quite a bit. My grandmother can walk now after the operation she had on her knee (I think). I don't know how it works. She looks healthier though, and I'm glad it is so.

Then, we drove to Singapore. I love shopping in Singapore! Gosh, it is superb. The variety of clothes, shoes, and even food is outstanding! I felt it was even better than 1Utama! There was the magnificent Takashimaya, Ngee Ann City, Lucky Plaza (that's where I bought my new camera!) ... oh, it's just all on Orchard Road! One thing about walking the roads in Singapore - it is safe. It is stress-free. There is no worry of a snatch thief or any idiot pouncing on you from the bush. Surprisingly, there were policemen on standby every hour. It's amazing how organized and safe it is. Haha, now I have thoughts of settling down in Singapore XD

After a full day of shopping, my family and I went to eat at this Japanese restaurant at Wheelock Plaza. Although it wasn't authentic Japanese cuisine, it was pretty good. They oysters were delicious! and I had kamameshi, which is a mini-claypot rice dish. Very fulfilling!

Ah! Singapore was fun!

As for New Year's celebration, we stayed at Sunway Pyramid Tower on new year's eve night. Had dinner at Sun & Surf cafe, joined in the countdown and watched the exquisite display of fireworks. We actually got a really good view of it!

So that was 2006! Happy New Year, everybody!
